Using DirectShow to develop web video editor

I need to develop an online video editor with ASP.NET that supports the basic functionalities of video editing like cutting, combining, reordering videos and adding effects or transitions on the timeline. I want to use DirectShow to implement the functionality of video editing as I it provides DES interface for editing video and I used it for a desktop video editor before. But as I never used DirectShow in Web application, I don't know if it's a good idea to do so.
