Screenviews vs Pageviews in cross-device tracking using Google Universal Analytics

Assume a cross-platform app for web, iOS, Android. The web app is built as a single-page application using AngularJS. The mobile apps use native code. The app usage will be tracked using Google Universal Analytics. To enable cross-device tracking, the userId feature is used. What is the best setup to implement screen/view tracking in the different apps, given that we want to align and compare data between devices? Screenviews or Pageviews?

On the one hand, Google's guide to Single Page Application Web Tracking recommends pageviews. On the other hand, Google's guide to App/Screen Web Tracking recommends screenviews...

What are the pros and cons of these methods? Is it important to use the same hit type across all devices?
