Change icon to picture on mouse-hover

As the title suggests I'm trying to make a small CSS (or javascript) animation to change an icon to a picture on mouse-hover, in this specific case it doesn't need to be an image, for example, I have a white google icon, what I want is when a user hovers on it for it to change to the actual logo, or at least to the actual colours.

PS: It doesn't really need to be a CSS or Javascript animation, or an image, if you come up with a way of selective painting the icon that would do it.
