Web Service Returns 500 internal server error

I am very new to writing webservices so I think I am missing something elementary. I wrote a basic ASP.NET Core Web service application, It is little more than what you get when you create a WEB API right from Visual Studio 2017 using C#. I am trying to deploy my first Web Service to a GoDaddy Server. The service works locally using the LocalHost but when I publish it to the the server I get an 500 response code.
