Connecting Windows Phone 8 app with SQL server database using ASP.NET web api

I want to connect my windows phone 8 application with SQL Server Database using a web api. I have already created a database and want to know that how can I use that database in application. Can anyone provide proper procedure and code to so so. Stuck at this for a long time. Please help!
