Connecting to Sage SQL from Webserver via vpn

I am hoping that someone can help me with this one. I have a client who has sage running on their intranet and currently to connect to it we use Sonic wall and net extender from our office. The client wants a website which will run a cron job to connect to their sage sql database which is on their VPN and pull the data. Can anyone help me get started on this? 1) How do I set up the server to connect to their vpn? 2) how do I then run a cron script which will pull data from the sage sql? Kind regards Nick
