Japanese characters not displaying correctly on web host but fine on localhost

On web host characters are shown as something like this: ç§é”ã¯ã€çµ„ç¹”ã®æ¥­

I have tried adding below but no luck.

font-family:"ヒラギノ角ゴ Pro W3", "Hiragino Kaku Gothic Pro",Osaka, "メイリオ", Meiryo, "ＭＳ Ｐゴシック", "MS PGothic", sans-serif;

Other Japanese websites look fine on my pc.
