Is there a way to overlay excel data on a google map?

Hi All,

I have a question regarding Google Maps and MyMaps. My work are looking for a new way to visualise data from excel onto google maps, currently we have a bunch of councils listed in an excel sheet as well as a number of jobs for each of those councils and it can be annoying to try and locate a council and as most of the employees are not tech savvy they don't know how to use the filtering system in excel, enter my idea, to use excel sheet and overlay the data on google maps.

Can anyone provide any input on how they are doing this, I have a solid understanding of programming and javascript just looking for some ideas.
