Need some guidelines for java project [on hold]

I've been wanting to make a java program that could get certain information and navigate through a webpage. To be more descriptive you could imagine it like this, in programs GUI search field you type in something for example "game of thrones" click search(in GUI) the program uses a search function from a certain website(let's say google.com //inserts the phrase into the field and clicks the search button or something along those lines), now that the search has been done all results would be displayed in GUI, selecting one of the results would get the data from the selected result page or download something from the page or do some other action. That's about it. Any guidelines, example projects or tutorials would be appreciated.
