What is Ahead Of Time Compiling (AOC) in Java? [duplicate]

I was searching to run a program without a JVM. I came across a post talking about ahead of time compilers. I want to know is that really possible to pre compile the code and run the program even without a jvm?

Learned a bit about Excelsior Jet but yet to find a concrete response.
