API for photos of cities

Now when Google killed Panoramio (thank you, Google); and Google Places API returns very weird results (which don't look like the place itself, even different from photos on Google Maps, or no results at all); Flickr, Instagram and FourSquare return tons of bulk stuff like people etc and National Geographic doesn't have any API yet,

Where is it possible to get photos of cities and populated areas by name or coordinates (or bounding box) on the web? Just small photos around 300px weight.

I can't believe there is no place anymore.
