Listen for/retrieve incoming email messages in java web application

I have a greenmail email server already set up but am also creating a web application to use as well. Is there a way I can grab those email messages being sent to my greenmail server from my web application without accessing the greenmail server? Like grab those messages before they get to the server, not directly retrieving them from the server.
