live server visual studio isn't opening my javascript

while writing my problem i found the solution but it isn't logical to me so when i open my web page with live server of visual studio it doesn't read my javascript (my main.js was in a foled named js) so what i've done is that i've put my main.js file in the same folder as index.html and it worked! and i have specified the path correctly in both situation but it only accepted when the js file is in the same folder as index.html this is when the js file was in another folder named js this is when i've put the js file in the same folder as index.html and i want to put my main.js file back in js folder but it doesn't work and i followed the same steps as a tutorial in youtube and it worked , any suggestions?
