d3.js: data binding with two different charts

I began to learn d3.js and i have a question: I have one JSON data and created two different charts (e.g. bar chart and pie chart) with this data. If I marked as "selected" several bars on first chart ("brush"), how can I mark similar data on pie chart? I cannot find non-stupid solution:/
