Javascript getting broken when intercepting HTML response with MITM proxy

I am using node MITM proxy to intercept HTML responses. When I convert the intercepted buffer response to string a lot of javascript code gets broken. It happens because & when used in javascript gets converted to & amp; which breaks the js script and hence a lot of functions and variables are warned to be undefined.

If anybody could help with a workaround.
