Handle many image reqests

I am working on a PWA for a long time. And every day it gets used often by more people. I use firebase for this project. And slowly I run into trouble. I use the free plan so my requests to firestore or to the cloud storage are limited. My question. How is this handled by other websites? For my platform, I need a few images. They load from the cloud storage when the webpage is called. I looked it up. When my website gets called, there are 50 Image requests to the cloud storage and then everything is loaded. But is this a way to much and I am doing something wrong? Or is it a very low number and the cloud storage is a way too stingy?
