As my primary field in programming hasn't been webdesign so far, I was always trying to wrap my head around the case against using pixels as unit of measure. Also let's use a site http://www.maitrea.cz/ for reference of a site measured in pixels if needed. Some of the points:
-
Argument 1 it doesn't work with zooming: All the webpages measured in pixels I have tried work totally fine when using the zoom feature (tried in Chrome and IE).
-
Argument 2 it ties to properties of the current display, each display has a different resolution: from what I understand about pixels in webdesign it is actually a totally precise length unit not in relationship with the pixels of the display at all and therefore not tied to them.
-
Everyone talks about design without pixels but no one is actually doing it. Also all the websites containing articles about pixels being bad are constructed using pixel measurement.
What am I missing?
