Web application technologies

I haven't worked in any big web application development project. My question is: if today a web application needs to be developed from scratch (irrespective of size), what technologies should be used?

To me it seems like AngularJS/JQuery with RESTful APIs serving back-end data will serve all purpose. Therefore, technologies/frameworks like Struts, Spring MVC, JSP won't be used going forward.

Is this understanding correct? or there could be scenarios where Struts, Spring MVC, JSP would be still useful and required?
