web app architecture - too many choices [on hold]

I'm looking to build a web app and I have started to dig in to different technologies to figure out how I want to build it. As I've done this, I've become very overwhelmed.

For the most part I know I want to run it on Node and Express, and I think i'd prefer Angular over JQuery (not a must) so I've looked at things like MEAN, but Im not a huge fan of Mongo. I also came across CleverStack, which seems pretty good, but looking at the repo it looks like it Isn't all that active.

On top of that, Im looking for an Admin template/theme/framework so that I dont have code stuff like authentication/roles, meus, basic layout, etc...

Basically the problem is, there are just far too many options with requirements that may not match. Also finding the right terms has been very difficult.. framework, seed, library, components etc etc...

I've poked around NPM and Bower, but this is basically just a list, so unless I read through all of them, they are of little use. Cant search, because Im not clear on the terms.

How do I sort through this?
