Best way to communicate between raspberry pi and a web server?

I have some sensors connected to the Raspberry Pi and I am taking the input from them. What I have to do is send a REST request to a web server every time there is a change in input from the sensor. I will start a web server on my mac. What is the best way and frameworks to use in python to do such a thing? Any Example links would be appreciated??
