What programming language should I use in general? [on hold]

This is a general programming question. I want to be able to design web applications/pages/games (all web based) so what programming languages should I really use? I've dabbled in PHP and JavaScript and I've seen some of the things that these can do.

However I'm kind of looking for a silver bullet for web programming. What do you think? PHP and JavaScript? Perhaps a different combination? In the future though I'd like to make phone apps and maybe some programs/games.

I'm thinking either C# or Python for that one; I'd love to hear your suggestions!
