Is there a default Windows webroot folder?

I pointed a free subdomain from https://freedns.afraid.org/ to my local ip address to test some java and c# web applications running on my computer. (Just to be able to share a friendly url instead of the IP address with my co-oworkers)

Accidentally I accessed the url without the port numbers for the applications and I got an HTTP 404 response from my computer.

I checked the headers and the server is Microsoft-HTTPAPI/2.0.

After searching a lot I found out that it is HTTP.sys who is dealing with the requests at port 80.

Just out of curiosity, can I use this web server to serve a simple html? I could not find if there is a root directory where it searches for the resources requested.

Thanks
