Hosting a Web Server to serve html pages [closed]

I am just a beginner and just starting out as a web developer. I recently learned how to build a simple node server that serves my index.html file on 3000 port on my IPv4 adress. So I assume that 'website hosting' is the same and you just host a website on the internet as opposed to your personal LAN (wifi) network. So, how do serve websites over The Internet?
