Any idea how twitter and linkedin turn the links posted into their custom links?

Whenever we post a link on twitter or linkedin. They are turned into custom url on the post. eg: www.something.com is changed somewhat like

twitter: t.co/adfadsfu
linkedin: lnkd.in/sdagasd

I'm using Laravel in my project and thought of implementing this kinda feature if possible.
