Switching from webpack dev server to production

So currently I have just the front-end of a Vue.js web app on a webpack dev server. Eventually I plan to connect it to MongoDB database, and host it on Heroku. How do I do this in webpack? Or do I need to somehow migrate my front-end to a Node.js/Express back-end?
