Using Google Maps API to display a lot of points does not load the map anymore

I use the Google maps API to load a map on my website. It currently has 13 352 points to display with an icon and a text bubble when it's clicked on.

I also use OverlappingMarkerSpiderfier to handle multiple points at the same latlong.

It loads fine on Safari, but it seems like it stopped working on Chrome recently. I've been investigating and I can't see any error on the Javascript console. The comments load fine, so it's probably not a problem with Javascript crashing or something like that.

The different images for the icons on the points used to be chosen from 100+, so I limited that to ~20, but it didn't help.

Any idea about what's happening here and how to fix it?
