Is copying design(not total design) but not the code illegal?

So I am not sure if this is a right place to ask this. But I found this one page site on Colorlib https://preview.colorlib.com/#ronaldo. I have created the site for myself. I haven't copied even a part of the code of the original website. But the design is almost identical(i.e. You can say I didn't copy the code but was inspired from this site). I haven't copied any pictures, text, code just the design is similar. Color scheme is also different. But as I mentioned the layout is the same. I feel this is unethical in some way. I do not intend to pirate the page or anything like that. Can someone guide me what things should I change in my site so that I do not somehow violate copyright laws? Thanks for any help!

Note: I also tried to contact colorlib but seems they won't respond to mail(understandable) and I even asked for help in their Support forum but no response.

Edit: I am a terrible designer myself and I try to design every now and then but this one is a type of personal blog which I want to look professional.
