I have seen a lot of sites popping up with the ability to create realistic mockups. Users can upload artwork, and the preview is generated with effects and distortions.
Example site: https://placeit.net/ , https://smartmockups.com/, https://www.renderforest.com/ and many others do the same.
**What I know - ** I am aware of simple product designer systems which can overlay an image on top of another, but it doesn't really add effects or distortion and doesn't look realistic. Other technologies like CSS can add distortion, but to get that level of realism and for thousands of products doesn't sound right, there might be some trick. Some posts also suggest using Photoshop scripts, but not sure if that is possible and if it would work on a large scale.
My questions are What technology do they use? How can one create a similar mockup builder feature like placeit.net?
How do they manage to create so many product mockups? Do they create a backend where they set up the product, or do they use photoshop and make it work online?
What I want to achieve I have to create a site where users would upload their artwork and see a preview of how the product would look with their artwork printed. There are more than 3000+ products to choose from, so we need to create a robust backend that will be very easy to use.
I have been looking for answers all over the internet, but hopefully, someone here will have the right answers.
Thanks a lot.
