Why Cant The Transition Identify The Transform Im Trying To Reference? (new to css) (liveweave in comments)

I am trying to have the upper left icon animate to an x. Occasioanlly upon first loading the scripts the animation will work, but after a bit or reloading the animation will no longer work.
