Reached the maximum collaborators number on github and cannot push commits

Me and my coworker, just joined a web dev project, but they reached the maximum number of collaborators on github, and only my colleague is in there now. Is there any smart way for me to push my commits into there if I cannot be a collaborator? Maybe using my colleague who is ?

I thought about creating another repo with my colleague and for him to take my commits and push them there, but this is far from a smart way of doing it. Any suggestions ?
