I'm very new to programming, and web-dev as a whole.. but I am wondering if it is possible to connect a database to a static website. For example, you could have your database running on Heroku, and you can send and receive data through GitHub Pages or something. Just any static site hosting service.
Would this be possible? A perfect answer to this question would be an explanation as to why I can, or cannot do this, and sources that could help me.
