What's the difference between https and HTTP/1.0?

When I use the command:openssl s_client -crlf -connect www.cmu.edu:443 I want to make a https connection. But I can still type: GET / HTTP/1.0 Host: www.cmu.edu

And get 200 OK. What does HTTP/1.0 mean in this https connection? Or is this connection a https or a http connection? What HTTP/1.0 stands for here?
