Is it a good practice to develop a website homepage in its own project?

I'm thinking of developping a homepage in a distinct Web project, separated from the authenticated part of the website.

My homepage has only a marketting/search-engine optimization, as it contains : - Company presentation - Quick description of the functionnalities - Partners - News and blog entries It contains no user related stuff, except for a "login/register".

Is bad / not recommended at all ?
