How to access data from hadoop in a website?

Hi am actually trying to build a test website similar to hue or ambari filebrowser which can just read the files in hadoop.

am looking into webhdfs am able to get the list of files using the webhdfs how to call this using a http request or from a website?

Please point me correct direction Thank You.
