How would you dynamically update a website based on the date?

For example, say I had an external file with links to cat videos, dog videos, bird videos, etc. and I wanted the site to display the cat videos on the 1st of the month, dog videos on the 2nd, bird videos on the 3rd etc. What would be the standard and/or best way to do this?
