I can not block a site using etc/hosts file in linux ubuntu

I am trying to block a specific site in this case dev.to but it is not blocked , even though i tried to block sites like youtube and facebook and those sites are blocked but the site https://dev.to/ is not blockable my hosts file is like

    127.0.0.1 www.dev.to
    127.0.0.1 dev.to
    127.0.0.1 https://www.dev.to
    127.0.0.1 https://dev.to
    127.0.0.1 http://dev.to
    127.0.0.1 http://www.dev.to

it stills opens the site , even though i restarted my device
