This is more of a design related question. It has been my understanding that the WhatsApp service performs end-to-end encryption and unlike Messenger, WhatsApp does not the store the messages on servers after delivering the message to the intended recipient. In this case, does my mobile phone act as a server which serves the chat history when I access WhatsApp from WhatsApp web? I know that messenger on Facebook stores the messages in a server running a DB whereas WhatsApp stores everything in the local machine of the user.
Essentially, how does WhatsApp web reflect chat history if the history is not stored on a server?
Note: I am not talking about the actual application available for Mac and Windows but rather talking about this
