Being new to web development, I want to build a static website that at it's best would be my resume. My idea was to host it on a cloud service like Google Cloud or AWS using the always free tier. Even though, I can create a website that would be publicly available, it'd still be dull without a domain. I'm curious to know why do I have to purchase a domain name when there are services like Cloud DNS available? Is there no way that I can setup a DNS service to my instance such that it is globally available.
