What is the current standard for C# websites? [on hold]

I'm hoping to make a website which queries a database. I have read up on ServiceStack, WebAPI, WCF, ASP.NET etc. But I'm not clear on the primary motivators between picking any of the above.

Assuming cross-compatibility is not a concern for the server, what technology would provide the best throughput and lowest memory usage? If you were building a new website like this today, what core technology in the C# stack would you be using?
