AspNetCore Extension Methods Not Recognized

I'm trying to use the HttpContext.Session.SetJson(); extension method from using Microsoft.AspNetCore.Http.Extensions. I've added the reference and the using statement yet it still doesn't recognize it, what may be the problem here?
