How do I retrieve all image files from a server and download them using R script?

I have logged into my server using ssh_connect, however, I am not particularly sure how to locate / download any of the files that are on the server I am trying to access. My goal is to basically download the images from the server and then, using some sort of script, upload those images automatically to a website. I am aware that scp_download is probably what I have to use in order to download them, however, I am unsure on how to locate the files I am trying to download on my server in the first place. Any help or guidance would be highly appreciated!
