Multiple JS files with same methods with same php page

I have 2 types of users audience and speakers. I have a PHP file audience.php that imports audience.js. For speakers, there is separate PHP file and js file as well. Now if I want to promote a user from audience to a speaker can I change the js file while keeping PHP file same ? Both js files for audience and speakers have many common named functions but different functionality in them.
