What's the difference between Pivot table and reports?

I am not able to differentiate between using a Pivot table or using a reporting tools? E.g. Flexmonster pivot grid seem to actually do most of what Telerik Reporting can and to add to the confusion, Telerik also has pivot grid component?

I understand that Pivot grid is for summarized data/grouping of data and so on but any reporting solution like Telerik reporing can do the same as well?

So, I was trying to understand why someone choose, say Flexmonster instead Telerik reporting and vice versa?

What use cases do they solve?
