How can I extract text of an pdf file using only JS and display it in an input field?

I am trying to extract the text of an pdf file using only client side javascript. I do not care about images. The general idea is to extract the text into one huge string to display that very string in an input field.

I already tried a lot, also I used the library pdf.js and looked at a ton of different solutions on jsfiddle and here on stack overflow, but non of those works for me.

Could somebody be so kind and help me out?
