Chrome doesn't regognize style

I have the following HTML command:

<a class="deprecate" href="/DfxProdRevs">DfxProdRev</a>

and the following css in the style sheet:

.deprecate {
font-style: italic;
}

All browsers show the text in italic, but Chrome. It's so basic that makes no sense at all to me.

Am I missing something? How to accomplish that?
