Opening a wpf web application from an existing web page

I have been working with desktop apps (winforms and wpf)so far and I am not familiar with web application design.

I know I can create web browser app project in visual studio. As far as I can see, there isn't much difference between those and desktop Wpf apps in the essentials, so...

I wish to know if it is possible to call my application from an existing webpage/website and if so, where could I find helpful tips on how to make it possible.
