Wordpress "upload media" buttons never work accessed within android app

I am having difficulty understanding what's wrong with creating an android app that accesses the upload media screen in the backend of wordpress. I can use input buttons, fill out forms and click the submit button. But when I try to use upload anything, whether it's front end or backend, it doesn't work.

The only way it works is if I make a native app launch screen action and make that point to the screen through Web browser, then it let's uploading anywhere happen.

I don't want to leave the app just to upload. It breaks the flow using app.
