Display MySql database in form/browser view

I'm sure this is easy for many ppl but I've spent days on google and in books, & can't find how to do it.. :|

Would love someone to direct me to learning how to create a simple database with web interface - not spreadsheet view thanks! I can install MySql/PHP MyAdmin, and I can create PHP forms that can write to the Db, but only single responses, not updating Db content.

Have also used Forms in Google Docs - it has display similarities to what I'm after - which is simply to have a personal online database accessible via browser, displayed in a simple HTML format, not a spreadsheet. Updated via browser. Yes have tried Obvibase but awful layout. Unlike Google Forms, there will only be 1 user, only updating existing records, not submitting new responses.

Pretty similar to MS Access 2013 'Desktop Contacts' Db, except online on my own domain server w/MySql etc.

Any tips, leads, online ref's much appreciated.
