Asp.net web api request handling

I have a simple NodeJS app that makes http requests to an asp.net web api. I'm sending around 100 requests per sec and from the logs I can see that IIS/web api is handling about 5-6 requests per second. IIS is running on Windows server 2012 with a decent hardware spec and I believe that it should easily handle 100s of requests. Am I missing configuration settings or should I have a different setup?
