Javascript code to open new browser tab and change focus to the new tab

I want a Javascript/jQuery code that opens a new tab(Browser) when we click on a button in a page but keeps focusing in the original tab. Now when we click another button in the original page it will change the focus to the new tab. If not javascript/jQuery which technique is better please explain me with the code.
